Produce Prescription Program of South Central NY
INFORMATION FOR VENDORS
Increase sales, cultivate customers and support your community!
The PRxSCNY program aims to strengthen our existing local food system. This means partnering with local farmers, markets, and grocers to sell fruits and veggies to PRx patients – keeping the funds generated through the program within the communities that it serves.
PROSPECTIVE VENDORS
This year, hundreds of patients in the Southern Tier will receive Produce Prescription vouchers.
These could be spent on fruits and vegetables at your location!
For every $1 spent through PRx, patients typically spend another $.25-$1 of their own money.
Once the onboarding process is complete, PRx vendors are expected to:
- Familiarize their staff with the PRx program, or request that a PRx staff member conduct a brief training
- Display signage that PRx vouchers are accepted at their location
- Keep a record of PRx purchases that is shared with PRx program staff monthly
- Send a monthly invoice to PRx program staff – this invoice is used to calculate reimbursement
- Keep all vouchers that are collected and send them to PRx program staff by the 15th of each month.
- Keep the shelves stocked with fresh fruits and vegetables!
Contact Kate at foodasmedicine@rhnscny.org or call 607-692-7996 x 206 to start accepting vouchers at your business!

FAQs
What is eligible?
Fresh fruits & vegetables; minimally processed canned and frozen produce.
What is NOT eligible?
Value-Added items (like salsa, jam, sauce), juice, dried fruits or vegetables, non-produce items.
Can customers use more than ONE voucher at a time?
Yes, customers can use more than one PRx voucher at a time. There is no limit to the number of Produce Rx vouchers customers can use per visit at most retail sites, with the exception of participating Price Chopper locations, where there is a $10 limit (two vouchers), per transaction, per day with the use of an AdvantEDGE card.
Can customers get change for their Produce Rx vouchers?
No, so it’s recommended to purchase as close as possible to the whole dollar amount of the combined vouchers.
For example, if the fruit and vegetable purchase is $9.89, they will need to use two $5 Produce Rx vouchers but will not receive $0.11 in change.
How will I be reimbursed?
After completing your redemption log please submit it by email with voucher numbers indicated, or print and mail a paper copy with vouchers attached, to the Rural Health Network.
Mail paper copies of the reimbursement log and Produce Rx vouchers you have received to: Rural Health Network of South Central NY; Attn: Kate Miller-Corcoran; 455 Court Street Binghamton, NY 13904
