Jessica Barbini, Farm to School Coordinator and Jamie Henry, Program Assistant VISTA, visited Newark Valley High School to taste test a brand new Farm to School recipe! Students tried elotes, a Mexican street corn, which consists of an ear of corn with a tangy, cheesy chili-lime cream sauce. The students provided a positive response and we are excited to offer this as part of an upcoming NY Thursday.

The Food and Health Network attended and tabled on September 26th for the 3rd Annual Tioga Central School District Harvest Festival at Tiger Farms! FaHN hosted a scavenger hunt, a potato digging station, and a harvest-themed relay race called “Harvest Dash”. Other activities included stations teaching students about vegetables and the importance of protecting bees. A station where students learned about goats and adorable baby rabbits was a big hit! A NY Thursday meal featuring a NY all-beef hot dog, NY oven roasted potatoes, local juice, local corn on the cob, and local apples was served for lunch. We can’t wait for next year!
