The Cooperstown Farmers’ Market and Cooperstown Lions Club are partnering to help local SNAP recipients increase their spending power at the Cooperstown Farmers’ Market. The Lions are donating $2,000 per year, for two years, toward the SNAP Match program with the hopes of getting more fresh local foods into the hands of SNAP recipients. SNAP recipients requesting EBT coins from the Market Manager will be allotted SNAP Match Vouchers of up to $15 per week. These vouchers can be used for any SNAP eligible food items available at the Market.
Josie Maroney, Program and Market Manager at Otsego 2000 and the Cooperstown Farmers’ Market, said “I am looking forward to seeing an increase in EBT usage when paired with SNAP Match at the Cooperstown Farmers’ Market. This is a great opportunity to help provide SNAP recipients with nutritious locally grown foods while benefiting the bottom lines of our local vendors and their businesses.”
