On February 14th, Sidney Elementary School students prepared and sampled bruschetta as part of the school’s monthly “Snack Attack” taste test. Fifth graders took the lead on dicing ingredients and guiding younger students in garnishing bread with tomato and basil. The toasted snack was a hit, with hundreds of students taking a piece to complement their spaghetti and meatballs.
The Sidney Farm to Table Committee organizes monthly taste tests through the school year to encourage students to try healthy foods and hone their cooking skills. Next month’s taste test will feature “cowboy caviar” salsa.
