Food Access & Development Coordinator AmeriCorps VISTA Position

The Food Access & Development Coordinator VISTA will lead resource development efforts to support FaHN (Food and Health Network) sustainability and a strong regional food system, and provide support to partner organizations engaged in food security and local food access initiatives in an 8 county region of Broome, Chemung, Chenango, Cortland, Delaware, Otsego, Tioga and Tompkins. Development efforts include membership and sponsorship campaigns, fundraising, grant writing, and collaborative resource development with partner organizations to improve food access. The Food Access & Development Coordinator VISTA will play a key role supporting initiatives to reduce food insecurity and improve health through Anti-Hunger Task Force’s, the Summer Food Service Program, Farm to School, Fruit & Vegetable Prescription Programs, and other initiatives. The Coordinator will also assist with updates to the Regional Food System Assessment for South Central NY and research on other critical issues.

Summer Food Security AmeriCorps Position – (part-time, 300 hours)

The FaHN Program Assistant will provide education and other support to three core FaHN program areas: 1) Farm to School, 2) Fruit and Vegetable Prescription Program, and 3) Summer Meals. The member will work with partner organizations to support local food and garden education at summer meal programs; assist with preparing for expansion of the NY Thursday Farm to School program; and assist with implementation of the Fruit & Vegetable Prescription Program at sites in Binghamton.
