We’re proud to announce that the Food and Health Network has been selected as a 2015 Good Food Organization by the James Beard Foundation and Food Tank. Each year, the publication lists nonprofits from across the country that are doing exemplary work in the areas of food and agriculture; nutrition and health; hunger and obesity; and food justice. FaHN is one of 36 nonprofits chosen in New York State.
FaHN was chosen for its dedication to cultivating knowledge, building networks, and catalyzing collaboration in support of a healthy regional food system. In particular, our work connecting food access and public health and advocacy was highlighted by the guide. Other New York organizations noted in the Good Food Org Guide include the Hunger Action Network of New York State; GrowNYC; School Food FOCUS; The Food Studies Institute; and Just Food.
The intention of the Good Food Org Guide is to serve as a resource for growing local food movements and to “focus attention on the many organizations working in fields, kitchens, classrooms, laboratories, businesses, town halls and Congress to create a better food system.” Thank you to all of our FaHN members, sponsors and community partners working to improve food access, public health and local agriculture in South Central NY!
